Foxcote Play Area in Chorley officially opens after £50,000 refurbishment

Foxcote Play Area

A well-loved play area in Astley Village, Chorley officially reopened to the public on Tuesday by Chorley Councillors and local Buckshaw Primary School.

Foxcote Play Area underwent around a £50,000 full refurbishment with brand new, state of the art play equipment for ages 2 to 8-year olds. Works started in early October 2022 with Chorley Council removing the old equipment ready for the contractor Hags to officially start installing the improvements. The refurbishment was completed in early November 2022.

Councillors such as Executive Member for Streetscene and Environment; Councillor Adrian Lowe and Councillor Jean Sherwood joined pupils from Buckshaw Primary School to officially open the park by cutting the ribbon today.

There were smiling faces all around as the children made use of the brand-new facilities despite the weather.

Councillor Alistair Morwood, Executive Member for Planning and Development said: "We are pleased we have been able to officially open the Foxcote Play Area in Astley Village today.

"The play area will be a well-used and loved facility for all children aged 2 to 8 years in Chorley.

"I urge everyone to make use of this terrific facility and we will continue to deliver improvements like this across Chorley for the benefit of our communities."

The brand-new equipment includes a variety of swings, multi climbers, roundabouts, seesaws and slides.

The play area was last updated in 2005. The improvements were chosen based on resident's views in a consultation that took place in February 2022.
